*edit* added a "contemporay" border, some color corrections and prettier text
Well, it was a battle in itself to find a category to submit this to, hope I got it right...
Any who, this map is a map of a *small* part of the world wide web. A very tiny little part. Specifically it maps 5217 connections between 1000 australian websites and unknown number of other websites.
The data for all this comes from my pet summer project: emmap [link] Its goal is to map how the content (websites) of the internet connect to each other. You might ask why, and I'll answer with "it sounded like fun". Although now a useful application has been found for it, and efforts are underway to classify all websites discovered thus far.
If you want to see more maps, make a request on either the project's blog, on my da page, or by commenting here (blog preferred). Requests at the moment can only be in relation to the name of websites due to resource restrcitions, ie, all websites that end in art.
Enjoy,
Steve
